Natalia Ribas Mateos is a researcher at the Universitat Autònoma of Barcelona, Catalonia. She taught Sociology in different European and US universities and conducted research on migration, age, gender mobilities. and borders, in Mediterranean Europe (MigCities, TMR, Marie Curie, Ramón y Cajal). She  is the author of the “The Mediterranean in the Age of Globalization”and “Border Shifts. New Mobilities in Europe and beyond”, and has published extensively in Spanish, French and Arabic.  Her work offers a new perspective on international social sciences linking grounded empirical research at multiple levels, with critical theoretical challenges in a close dialogue with gender activists.
