Özgür Güneş Öztürk
Özgür Güneş Öztürk is a founding member and mobiliser of the non-profit research/ consulting Col·lectivat Cooperative. She is a PhD student in the Department of Geography and Sociology at the University of Lleida (Catalonia), and holds a MA in Migration and Social Mediation from the same university, where she also worked as a Lecture and Research fellow. Her Bachelor's Degree is in Labour Economics and Industrial Relations (Gazi University, Ankara). Her research interests are related to migration, gender relations and Marxist and Feminist theory. She worked as a social researcher in a non-profit organization CIEMEN (Escarré International Centre for Ethnic Minorities and Nations). The last two projects that she coordinated were about Yazidis refugees who fled to Turkey to escape attacks by Islamic State (ISIL) and the violations of human rights due to the detention and removal from office of elected mayors and municipal councillors in the Kurdish territory of Turkey. Her current research focuses on both the political philosophy around the recognition of differentiated rights as a matter of social justice, and the study of worker cooperatives as a form of radical prefigurative politics. She has been a guest lecturer and speaker at numerous seminars on feminist theory and practice, research methodologies, migration studies, human rights and modern conflicts in the Middle East. Recently she was a visiting Postgraduate Research Student in the Philosophy Department at Queen’s University and in the Centre for Development Studies, at the Bath University.
